Professor Ray Owens

Ray Owens is Head of Protein Production UK, a programme to develop innovative methods for sample preparation for integrated approaches to structural biology in the Rosalind Franklin Institute. He has a background in molecular biology/biotechnology in industry and academia and ran the Oxford Protein Production Facility in the Research Complex. Ray currently leads the nanobody discovery project in RFI and is collaborating with the Membrane Protein Laboratory in the Research Complex on nanobodies to integral membrane proteins. His group makes use of the crystallization facility and the biophysical methods that are uniquely available in the Research Complex.
