Dr Jessica Walker

Jessica is a beamline scientist on I14 at Diamond Light Source, applying beamline techniques to questions in coccolith and sea urchin biomineralization. After undergraduate studies at the University of St Andrews, she completed her PhD at the University of Edinburgh in chemistry, studying crystal growth and biomineralization in coccolithophores. Jessica then completed postdoctoral studies at Northwestern University, USA working on sea urchin embryos, tooth enamel and Acantharia spicules. She uses the biological facilities as well as the electron microscopy suite at Research Complex in addition to the beamline to investigate each of these systems.
