Benji Bateman

Benji joined the Central Laser Facility in 2009 and is currently a Link Scientist, providing scientific expertise and support to academic user groups and industrial partners for all aspects of their microscopy experiments. Previous experiments have included optical trapping (aerosols and plant organelles), single-molecule tracking in mammalian cells, high-resolution cryogenic fluorescence imaging and volumetric FIB-SEM imaging.

Research Interests

His current research interests are directed towards the Correlative Light and Electron Microscopy workflow at cryogenic termperatures, developing a custom-built cryogenic fluorescence microscope (with optional solid immersion lens substrates) to guide our commercial Zeiss Crossbeam FIB-SEM with imaging high resolution slice-and-view volumetric information.
