Dr Katy Cornish

Katy is a postdoctoral research scientist in Professor Ray Owens’ group at the Franklin, working as part of the Nanobody Discovery team and PPUK. The crystallisation facility at Research Complex enables her to probe the molecular basis of interactions between therapeutic single-domain antibodies (nanobodies) and their antigens in atomic detail, including nanobodies for SARS-CoV-2.

She graduated with an MSci in Natural Sciences from Durham University in 2018, where she remained for her PhD in structural biology as part of the Horizon 2020-funded Virus-X Consortium. Her focus was the characterisation and structure determination of novel bacterial and viral enzymes identified through metagenomic exploration of extreme environments.
