Dr Lorna Malone

Dr Lorna Malone obtained her PhD from the University of Sheffield (2021) where she undertook studies in the laboratory of Professor Neil Hunter (FRS) and Professor Matt Johnson, using cryo-electron microscopy to study the internal mechanics of the cytochrome b6f complex from plants and cyanobacteria. During this work, Lorna identified several new and interesting targets for genetic modification which could result, not only in improved global crop yields, but also in a larger uptake of atmospheric CO2 and enhanced efficiency of crops under changeable environmental conditions.

Following her doctoral studies, Lorna joined eBIC in January 2022 as a Cryo-Electron Microscope Scientist. Lorna's research interests are diverse and she is involved in a range of collaborative single-particle projects.
