Kutumbarao Nidamarthi

Kutumbarao Nidamarthi is a Beamline Scientist at Diamond Light Source supporting Beamline I04 and I04-1. He completed his PhD in Crystallography and Biophysics under Professor D. Velmurugan from the University of Madras, and then went on to work at RIKEN, Japan, in the laboratory of Dr. Kam Zhang as a research scientist from 2018-2021. At RIKEN he mostly worked on new model building methods and quality metrics for Cryo-EM maps. Following this, he spent a year working as a postdoctoral fellow at ITbM Nagoya University with Dr. Florence Tama, before joining Diamond Light Source as Beamline Scientist (MX).

Research Interests

Experimental and theoretical crystallography. Experimentally, his interests are: protein diffraction, conducting diffraction experiments (Laue experiment), getting involved in development of beamline instrumentation and beam delivery procedures, with respect to theoretical studies, he is interested in exploring new mathematical techniques to understand diffraction and scattering experiments and their application to intensity statistics and new phasing techniques.
