Dr Frederick Campbell

Fred obtained his PhD from the University of Leeds, UK and has over 10 years’ experience in the design and evaluation of lipid-based nanomedicines. Recipient of a Marie Curie fellowship, he has published over 25 peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals. Throughout his research career, Fred has advanced fundamental understanding of how lipid-based nanoparticles are recognized and processed within the body and has developed innovative ways to exploit or evade these dominant interactions. This requires in depth understanding of the complex relationship between the chemical and physical properties of an LNP and the influence these propertied have on the fate of an LNP in the body.

To this end, the infrastructure, equipment and expertise to perform high end LNP characterisation and analysis at Research Complex, and across the Harwell campus, provides a unique research environment to push the limits of our understanding and capabilities of LNP gene delivery systems.
