Dr Yu Zhang

Dr Yu Zhang joined the Artemis team in Feb 2018.​ Yu's PhD and early postdoctoral work were carried out in the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, where he studied elementary magnetic excitations, magnons (spin waves), and the influence of spin-orbit coupling on the magnon dispersion on transition metal/metal oxide surfaces. Yu then did several years of postdoctoral work in the Department of Chemistry in UCL, where he developed expertise in time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy and investigated the dynamics of polaronic states in rutile TiO2, a prototype transition metal oxide. His research interests cover both magnetism and photocatalysis in low-dimensional materials of metal/oxide/semiconductor.​
