Professor James Naismith, Director of the Research Complex at Harwell, will be stepping down from June 2019 to take on a new role as Director of the Rosalind Franklin Institute.

The Rosalind Franklin Institute, a new institute designed to deliver transformative technologies to advance life sciences, will work closely with a range of campus partners, including Diamond, STFC Technology, CLF, and the Research Complex at Harwell, where a number of collaborative projects are already based.

Colin Miles, Chair of the Executive Board of the Research Complex at Harwell, said, “We warmly congratulate Jim Naismith on his appointment to the full-time Directorship of the Rosalind Franklin Institute, and look forward to a continued close partnership between our organisations.”

Professor Naismith said “It has been a great honour to lead the Research Complex at Harwell, and I am hugely proud of the progress we have made as a team in advancing the vision for the Research Complex, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the complex for their hard work. The RFI and the Research Complex will continue to be close partners at the forefront of life sciences at the campus, and I look forward to the new director advancing that vision alongside us.”

The RCaH will seek to appoint an interim Director while it undertakes an international Directorship search to replace Jim: details of any developments will be available through the RCaH website at a later date.
