Glacios

Glacios 200kV cryo-transmission electron microscope (TEM) is used for high resolution structural analysis (single particle and tomography) and microcrystal electron diffraction (microED). High-resolution data collections are regularly performed on the microscope as well as screening and optimization experiments. Data collection and pre-screening of protein complexes and cell membrane specimens, using a variety of applications and acquisition software to generate the images and data collections. Glacios workflow is integrated with eBIC system, so samples can be easily transferred to other microscopes on the site (Krios).

Our Glacios features:

  • High-brightness field emission gun (X-FEG)
  • Direct electron detector (Falcon 4) for structural analysis
  • CMOS camera (Ceta D) for diffraction experiments
  • MicroED - microcrystal electron diffraction
  • Software: ThermoScientific EPU and Tomo, and SerialEM
  • Remote link to a workstation at RCaH
  • Automated LN2 filling to facilitate autonomous data collections
  • Autoloader system for 12 autogrids.
