UKRI has announced a Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging (SSPP) challenge by launching a £7 million competition.

This competition is to fund innovative research and development projects that are well developed, but not yet at large commercial demonstration scale. These projects focus on solving the well-known issues with the sustainability of plastic packaging with an aim to dramatically reduce the amount of plastic waste entering the environment by 2025.

The maximum grant available will be £4 million, subject to this competition’s rules.

Additional details on funding availability and associated conditions for the competition are available on the Innovate UK Funding Services platform.
