Professor David Payne has stepped down after five years as Director of Research Complex at Harwell. David joined Research Complex in October 2019, dividing his time between Harwell and his role as Professor of Material Chemistry at Imperial College London.
In the last five years David has seen us through various challenges, from keeping vital research going through the Covid-19 pandemic, to undergoing a complete rebranding and launch of a new website.
Following David’s departure, Associate Director John Hand takes over as Director for twelve months while a recruitment process takes place.
John says: It has been a privilege to work with David over the last three years. I look forward to continue to develop Research Complex, working closely with colleagues in the Core Team and our Groups, to deliver world leading multidisciplinary research.
David is embarking on a new chapter leading a major science infrastructure development in Neom, Saudi Arabia. We wish him the very best in the future.
