The UV2600 is a more advanced UV spectrometer capable of examining liquid, solid and powder samples between 200-900 nm using the integrated sphere. This is achieved using a set of specific holders for the differing types of samples.
Tue UV2600 uses Shimadzu UV Probe software for method development, data capture and analysis. The data can be exported as a .csv file to allow offline data processing.
UV Spectroscopy, (UV/Vis or UV-Vis), is a technique that looks at the amount of energy absorbed by the sample in the UV to visible light spectrum compared to a reference material. The light source subjects the sample to discrete wavelengths over the typical range 200-1000 nm, and looks at the amount of energy absorbed due to the excitation of electrons within the sample when the frequency of the incident light corresponds to the energy difference of the electronic transition. This absorption gives insight into the structure/bonding of the subject material. This resultant energy difference between the sample and reference is examined across the UV-Vis light range and the spectra produced. This is most commonly recorded in absorbance (A), but can also be measured in transmission (%T) and reflectance (%R).
