Research Complex Opening Ceremony

The Research Complex was officially declared open on Friday 9 July 2010 by Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, the MRC Chief Executive.  Venki Ramakrishnan, the current Nobel prizewinner for Chemistry, joined him in emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary research.  Visitors from universities across the UK, the Research Councils, colleagues from the rest of the RAL site, and the local MP, Ed Vaizey, who is also the Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, were able to tour the laboratories and see the first research groups already at work (click here to see photos). Science Minister David Willetts referred to RCaH in his science policy speech.
