OPPF-MPL course on high throughput methods for protein production and crystallization

Between 30 March and 7 April 2011, the Research Complex hosted an advanced practical course on high throughput methods for protein production and crystallization for PhD students and early career post-doctoral scientists. The course was organised and run by the OPPF-UK and MPL and covered the theory and application of high throughput methods to expression vector construction, protein purification and crystallization. Methods for dealing with both soluble and membrane proteins were reviewed. The twelve participants on the course came from labs across the UK and Europe, and applied the methods to their own projects. By the end of the course two had even obtained crystals of their proteins!
