Cover story in Science for Research Complex researchers

Research by scientists in the Lasers for Science Facility and colleagues at the University of Bristol has shown how the energy generated by chemical reactions in solution is dissipated to the environment in less than a billionth of a second. These groundbreaking results were obtained using the world-leading, superfast ULTRA laser system, which was able to monitor the transfer of energy from the reaction product to the surrounding solvent by following changes in chemical bonds much faster than was possible previously. The research is featured on the cover of the journal Science (click here for details or here for the Science article).
