RCaH workshop explores the frontiers of biological imaging

The Harwell Oxford campus hosts a unique combination of world-leading facilities to image biological organisms at all scales, from whole animals to cells and even individual molecules.  Over 80 researchers from RCaH, MRC Harwell, the Central Laser Facility and Diamond met at RCaH on 31 March to discuss new innovations in bioimaging, including new X-ray microscopes at Diamond able to see inside cells, novel X-ray lasers, and methods to track trace metals in cells.  Methods to track even single cancer-causing protein molecules on the surface of living cells have been developed in collaboration with astronomers more accustomed to tracking stars in the sky.
